A 35-year-old man confessed that he shook infected blood onto a Chattooga County jailer and then laughed, according to superior Court records.
Now Joseph Henry Young, of Paxton Road, Trion, is heading to prison for two years, according to superior court records.
The incident happened in May 2017 when Jailer Nicole Sprague was putting a belly chain on inmate Young.
The inmate told the female jailer that he had an open head wound.
“He stated that he was an intravenous needle user and had Hepatitis,” court records stated.
Young then allegedly leaned over, shook his head and blood droplets fell on the jail employee’s arm.
He was sentenced for reckless conduct and given two years in prison and 10 years probation.
Young has already been in trouble with law enforcement in both Chattooga and Walker counties. He was convicted in Walker County on first-degree forgery and possession of more than an ounce of marijuana several years ago. He was convicted in Chattooga for violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act.
