The Trion City School System doesn’t have any construction projects on tap during 2018, according to School Superintendent Phil Williams.
“The only thing that we might consider is some type of outdoor pavilion,” Supt. Williams said. “That is just an open conversation and we have not even planned on it.”
He said they have looked into the possibility of building a new football field house. The one that is presently used was built for 35 players and now the team fields about 70 at times.
“We definitely need another field house,” the superintendent said.
He was reluctant to take on any more debt for the system.
“I can just tell you I am not interested in building anything until we get some of this other stuff paid off,” he added. “We have the money to do it, but who knows when someone is going to fly a plane into a building. We are just going to sit back and be conservative and get some of this bond paid off before building something else.”
