Local Man Dies In Lawnmower Mishap PDF Print E-mail

A Chattooga County man died around 3:20 p.m. today after his lawnmower flipped over onto him, according to Trion Police Chief Jason Kellett.

Police were called to 1031 Pine Street, behind the Trion Recreation baseball fields, to where the owner of Classic Lawn Care of Summerville, flipped his zeroturn mower. The owner, John Calvin Johnson, died on the scene. He was pronounced dead by Chattooga Coroner Earle Rainwater. 

Mr. Johnson was a former technician at Mount Vernon Mills Inc., in Trion. He was employed at the mill for 39 years when he retired to start his lawn business in 2016. He also liked antique vehicles, including his red 1966 Chevrolet pickup truck. Johnson is married to his wife Becky, of Summerville.
