Thursday, 05 September 2013 18:16

Two Chattooga County men were arrested for stealing almost $200 worth of merchandise from the Pennville Walmart yesterday, according to sheriff reports.

A loss prevention officer working at the store spotted the men leaving without paying. A Hays State Prison canine unit found the men behind Walmart near the railroad tracks.

"[Christopher Dalton Marks] stated that he had a receipt for the fishing reels but had thrown it down and that he had gotten the reels and receipt from a woman he knew, claiming that she had paid for the items," Chief Deputy Kevin Woods reported.

Marks, 20, of 154 Fields Walk, Pennville, was arrested for shoplifting and giving a false name to law enforcement officers. The other man, 19-year-old Jerome Paul Vaughn, of 186 Dickeyville Road, Trion, was charged with shoplifting.
