Twisted Ankle Event Is Set Here May 17 PDF Print E-mail

The fourth annual Twisted Ankle Trail Marathon and Half-Marathon will be held Saturday, May 17 at James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park. The race will begin at 9 a.m.

The race will feature 350 contestants from as far away as Canada and Hawaii. The race is currently full.

The girl that won the full marathon last year flew from the Grand Cayman Islands just to compete in the local race.

A fun run for kids will be held around 9:45 and 10 a.m. It will be one mile around the lake.

Last year the event drew 300 runners and this year the field was expanded to the 350 number.

A pre-race pasta dinner will be held at the Chattooga County Civic Center from 5 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 15 and is open to the public.

Spaghetti, bread, salad, a dessert and drink will be served for $8 per person

All proceeds from the pasta dinner will go to the Animal Advocates of Chattooga County.

The Summerville-Trion Optimist Club and Trion cheerleaders have aid stations to help in the event.

All race proceeds go to the Friends of Sloppy Floyd State Park.
