In an ongoing look at how Chattooga County handles emergency services, the Summerville Fire Department was dispatched to a medical distress call in the Trion area Sunday afternoon.

Around 3:15 p.m., 9-1-1 dispatched Summerville Fire’s first responders to a location off Maffett Street, Trion. An older woman with diabetic problems and with a history of a triple bypass needed help. Instead of the nearby first responders at the Trion Fire Hall, Summerville crews were called instead until an ambulance was available.
