A Summerville officer caught sleeping in his patrol car faces the possibility of being terminated by the mayor and council. An anonymous photographer snapped a shot of Officer Stanley Wofford slumped over in a patrol car apparently sleeping, according to Police Chief Stan Mosley. Wednesday morning an anonymous person dropped off photographs to the newspaper that depicted various angles of Wofford asleep in his car. The photograph shows a Tuesday time stamp. Although the picture shows it was taken at 1144 a.m., that is incorrect, according to Chief Mosley. The anonymous source says their camera was an hour behind and was never reset for Daylight Savings time. “He said he’s not going to resign. So I told him right now he is suspended without pay,” Chief Mosley said. The chief confronted Wofford before noon Wednesday. “He didn’t have really anything to say. He didn’t deny that he was sleeping,” Chief Mosley said.
